Services

Humanist officiants provide heart-felt ceremonies for everyone regardless of gender preference or beliefs, with an emphasis on common values, human rights, mutual responsibility and respect. Our ceremonies are always secular, ethical, non-religious and non-denominational.

For weddings, we are licensed by the Province to provide the legal equivalent to a civil ceremony, a City Hall wedding or a wedding in a church.

For funerals and memorials and for child dedications, there are no legal requirements.  However, we consider these to be very serious commitments and treat them with the utmost respect.

In all cases, each ceremony is tailored to reflect your values and wishes.

I am committed to helping you create a ceremony that expresses the ideas and emotions that are important to you. I provide sample ceremonies, and readings to help guide you to this goal, which you will receive after you have decided on using my services.

Other Services

As Humanist Officiants, we can conduct services to help you mark any important passages in your life. Other services we can offer for you include:

  • Adoptions

  • Commitment Ceremonies

  • Renewal of Marriage Vows

Locations

I am located in Almonte just beyond the western boundary of the City of Ottawa. I offer to serve the Counties of Lanark and Renfrew as well as the far west end of Ottawa. I charge fees which vary with the distance from my home to the location of the ceremony. There are no additional travel or time charges, or taxes, beyond the fees quoted. (Note that attendance at a rehearsal would entail a modest additional charge.)  Out of the total fee, I do request a deposit of $100 up-front to hold the date, and I normally request the balance be paid after the ceremony has been completed.

If you are interested in having a ceremony in another area in Eastern or Southern Ontario, beyond the area I serve, please contact me. I will be happy to put you in touch with another humanist officiant who serves your area. If there is no-one to help you, and I am free, I may be able to fill in.
